Brown Bag Films® is an award-winning animation studio, producing high quality computer animation for the international market. Brown Bag Films® is located in Dublin city and also operates an office in Los Angeles.
Established in 1994 by Cathal Gaffney and Darragh O’Connell, Brown Bag Films® is a creative-led company. Their passion for animation and reputation for creating original, character-based work have attracted a highly talented team to the studio.
In 2002, Brown Bag Films’ short film Give Up Yer Aul Sins was nominated for an Academy Award® and in 2010 Granny O’Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty was also Oscar-nominated for Best Animated Short Film.
Brown Bag Films have worked with the world’s biggest entertainment brands to produce high profile international television series. Recent productions include Chorion’s Olivia for Nickelodeon US and Enid Blyton’s Noddy in Toyland for Chorion/FIVE UK. Current productions include The Octonauts (52 x 11min), which premiered on BBC in October 2010, a second season of Olivia, and Doc McStuffins (52 x 11min) for Disney.
Employing more than 60 full time staff, Brown Bag Films is equipped with a state of the art High Definition Picture and Dolby 5:1 Audio post production facility, and a proven stereoscopic 3D pipeline. In 2010 Brown Bag Films opened a US office in Los Angeles to develop a proprietary film slate and progress their television business in the United States.
Brown Bag Films deliver 26 hours of animation to international broadcasters per year and was voted the European Producer of the Year at the Cartoon Tributes, Norway in 2009.
