Animation historian and Oscar-winning filmmaker John Canemaker is Professor of Animation at New York University and the author of a number of highly-acclaimed books about the history of animation in general, and Walt Disney in particular. His 2006 animated film, ‘The Moon and the Son: An Imagined Conversation’ won an Oscar for Best Short Film - Animated. In November 2009, John was in residence at IADT, Dublin where he taught Masterclasses. During his stay in Dublin, Animation Ireland, with support from Enterprise Ireland, sponsored the industry event “An Evening with John Canemaker’ moderated by Damian Farrell, Animation CEO Forum Chairman, focused on Mr Canemaker’s book “The Art and Flair of Mary Blair”.
