Tomm Moore Invited to Join Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in California has extended 178 invitations to international film industry artists. Cartoon Saloon’s Tomm Moore and Dublin born Editor Naomi Geraghty have both been invited to join the prestigious Academy.
Academy President Tom Sherak praised the talent of the invited members saying “These individuals are among the best filmmakers working in the industry today. Their talent and creativity have entertained moviegoers around the world, and I welcome each of them to our ranks.”
The Academy’s current membership sits at just under 6000 as it has done since 2003. Up to 211 new members could have been admitted this year under Academy Policy but several branch committees endorsed fewer candidates than were proposed to them. Members of the Academy vote annually to select nominees and winners of the Annual Academy Awards (The Oscars).
